My heart is racing,
I smell Petrichor,
My favourite season is here.
In my big purple umbrella,
I'm finally out,
A long breath,
Followed by a sigh of relief,
As I venture out and about,
In my garden I see,
A new flower blossom,
Feels like my life has just restarted,
Just because of the much awaited,
Exit of an unwanted guest.
My extrovert self is smiling inside me,
It has been waiting for this day for months now,
I'm going to see all my relatives today,
Virtual meetings, hugs, kisses and lots of love,
Has finally changed to...
A kiss on my cheeck, An open arm to welcome a warm hug.
Still remembering and fearing,
Those times where I awaited the,
Exit of an unwanted guest.
I finally stepped out of home,
Any and all places to roam,
Something inside me remembers,
All those memories,
On the window seat of each bus ride home,
This time I pray I reach slower,
As I go walking past the street,
Not to touch much around me,
Not to forget the much awaited,
Exit of an unwanted guest.
Not a single minute to spare,
My constant struggle,
Being a nurse was a juggle,
For me it was all work and no rest,
Atlast I could get a much wanted break,
My husband restless to leave for god's sake,
For him all rest and no work,
So all his trips to different offices,
Finally meant a job that he couldn't leave.
It's tough to forget,
All that he lost,
In the much awaited,
Exit of an unwanted guest.
My daughters have had too much of idle time,
Their education has had a full stop,
Finally they go back to a place,
They called their second home,
Although with every PTA,
I pray they still stay safe.
Due to the much awaited,
Exit of an unwanted guest.
And as I close my eyes tonight,
My questions still seemed unanswered,
My mind still wanders,
One idea just doesn't leave my mind,
Despite the much awaited,
Exit of an unwanted guest,
Why is it that I fear it's re-entry?
As it might shut all the doors,
Yet again.
