Haven't we all heard this before? 

Oh, what a fancy item,

What an interesting party!

You guys are so close, 

She would be considered as family now? 

I saw that post on Instagram,

Life must be going on so well, right? 

Amidst this chaotic social media life, 

I ask...

Unveil your true face! 


What's your reality?

Behind the scenes of a lavish party, 

Are you actually that close to a person, 

When you met him/her putting your device aside? 

What more have you seen? 

What more have you assumed from my "happy" pictures? 

Amidst all this,

The fact still is,

I haven't been able to,

Unveil my true face!


No, I didn't tell you,

No, I couldn't capture it for you,

About how I had a fight with my bestfriend of 10 years,

About how I crave to talk to him/her,

Amidst the big show on my social media profile,

I unfortunately have to admit, 

To have never been able to,

Unveil my true face! 


To be honest here,

Most of us, including me have been victims of F.O.M.O (Fear of missing out), 

We have all had times where we compared our lives to others,

But one of the strongest principles of today, is that...

Our virtual world is different from the real one!


Let me burst your bubble furthermore. 

The things that are shown so beautifully,

Under filters and editing apps,

Doesn't match the real image,

Hence, if you really want to know something,

From someone's social media, 

You will always be in a world filled with delusion,

No one has the courage to,

Unveil their true face!


Social Media is an exciting place to be in,

It teaches you so much about yourself,

It shows you so much about others,

One thing that will remember is,

That your social media account is your choice, 

What you choose to show and put out,

Is and will always be your choice. 

And so, choosing to be real is also one's choice!
